Remember Your First Love
During the Presidential campaign of Barack Obama, a new generation fell in love with a political candidate for the first time. He was a new, fresh face with exciting views. He promised change and gave us hope for a better future. But he also told us it wouldn’t be easy.
We obviously didn’t believe him, because the moment times got hard, the moment his approval rating dropped, the moment they surrounded him on all sides and pressed for him to surrender, we forgot our promise of support and walked away. Shame on us.
We voted for change, but we have not been willing to do what change requires. Change is hard. Change is demanding. Our President has not let us down. We have let him down. We are like the children of Israel who, when things got hard, considered returning to the bondage of Egypt.
But our first love is still standing where he stood when we elected him. He has not buckled under pressure and he has not complained of the unfair treatment. Let us remember the Barack Obama we fell in love with. The one who gave us hope for a better future. Let’s not abandon our post. Let’s stand on our promise to support him as he fights for the things we believe in and hold dear.
President Barack Obama is the leader we envisioned. Let’s stand behind him. Let’s stand next to him. Let’s even get in front of our President and with a united voice, say to the Republican Party – NO KEYS BACK!
